Founded in 1992 as Texas Pacific Group by David Bonderman and Jim Coulter, with an early signature deal turning around Continental Airlines out of bankruptcy. TPG built a reputation for bold, contrarian buyouts and growth investing, and went public in 2022. It acquired Angelo Gordon in 2023 to add a credit platform.
